A friendly beluga whale says hello!

The Beluga Whale - Social Butterflies of the Sea!

Did you know that beluga whales have a reputation for being friendly and social? When migrating in the summer, beluga whales often congregate in the thousands! They usually form groups of about 10 whales outside of migration time. Like most whales, wild belugas are generally friendly to humans and have never been observed showing aggression. There are even popular videos of belugas playing "catch" with people and retrieving objects such as cell phones lost at sea! Often called "sea canaries," they were created with excellent communication skills! To learn more about beluga whales, click here!
